Video blog: April snow biking

This may be my best video blog post yet. Seriously. I think I'll submit it to Cannes.

Music is "Read My Mind" by The Killers. Enjoy.

  8. That rocks. Did you take that on your camera? If so how do you secure it while riding? I use the same camera and so far do all my video while holding it - which becomes a bit dicey when going down steep rocky trails.

Okay, I am officially envious, the landscape here is brown, dead and muddy. But did manage a nice ride!

Jill, a good pedal system and practice would go a long way in getting peak efficiency...check out the first few moments of that video for clues...

I think you need better bike fit and clipless pedal system with quality pedaling technique if you want to make the GD a race.

  15. Gorgeous! I want to be there.
I use a Gopro Cam on my helmet or on my handlebars and it's never that smooth. What's you setup?

  16. The camera is just my Olympus Stylus tough 8000, handheld in the first part of the video. In the downhill stuff, I just taped it to a headlamp and stuck it on my forehead. It was kind of a spontaneous decision to even make that video. I had thrown a roll of packaging tape in my backpack for previous shipping purposes, and the headlamp was in there for earlier commuting. So when I was rifling through my bag looking for the camera, I came up with the video idea. In the past, I've stuck the camera in my goggles or held it on the handlebars. Definitely a ghetto setup.

Mike, I'll agree with you on that one. But if you do look closer at the video, you'll also notice I'm only going 4 mph. :-)

  17. Awesome, Jill. Don't know if it's the song that made me extra happy (as I have a soft spot for the Killers), the snow, or your smiling mug and glove-free hands. Could also be that Ben does my taxes. Thank gawd for that.

  18. Thank you Jill for both creating and posting this when you did. I just experienced my first bike accident as an adult and this was a scary experience for me as I'm still kinda new to biking. While I survived it pretty well all things considered, (just enough of a header to be thankful for a helmet and worry my husband) watching this helped me get back out there. Thank You!

  19. That's pretty awesome-- of course, I work in an accounting office! :)

I loved your video. Don't forget to do your taxes... and remember: an extension is only to give you extra time to get the forms in, not extra time to pay. Stupid IRS.

    :) Happy trails, Jill!!
