Tony C...thanks for the scoop on water at Alpine Pond..that will surely lengthen my ride possibliites! (Sure wish I'd known about that faucet that day!) Next I need to ride RROSP and beyond. It's on my 'list'. (I'll be back up in Sunnnyvale from 31 Oct thru 13 Nov btw).

Yesterday I was reading a back issue of BIKE mag (May or June I think) and they did the entire loop of the Bay Area Ridge Trails...of course they had MUCH help being as some areas aren't open to us 'regular' folk, and they had it all coordinated for shuttles across the areas not yet linked, and guides for each new area from local area clubs. Someday maybe they'll get the private land issues resolved and be able to link the entire thing up...it would be awesome to do the entire system!MattChttp://inane-asylum2.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-23085936916848575592011-10-19T21:42:12.131-06:002011-10-19T21:42:12.131-06:00Did you have enough water? They close certain trails to Mnt. Bikers and horses when conditions become bad enough.
I have anxiety like you when I'm forced to go to SF. There is always some kind of problem going on that affects traffic and parking, and there is just too many people.Tom Cnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-18533512381471614002011-10-19T15:49:59.177-06:002011-10-19T15:49:59.177-06:00Matt, it was a great ride. I figured out the name ...Matt, it was a great ride. I figured out the name of the trails in the series — Bella Vista to Page Mill connector trail to Alpine Road to Meadow Trail to Cloud's Rest to Russian Ridge to Hawk Trail to Ancient Oaks to Alt Ridge Trail to Long Ridge to Grizzly Flats to Stevens Creek Canyon. Whew! For a longer ride I'd love to ride more trails in Russian Ridge and then link up Long Ridge to Saratoga Gap. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the Skyline to the Sea trail was open to bikes? That would open up a ton of options, and it's not like it's that high-traffic of a trail. Every time I run it, I never see anybody else.

Anon — Rich, no. Idle, no. Lucky, certainly. (all the more 'beastly' cuz it's on a lead-filled SS!) My knees hurt just LOOKING at your grind up Monte Bello Rd! And looking at your map I've been on some of those trails but not all...that's what's so awesome about that whole system up there on Skyline...oodles and oodles of possiblities! It is so beautiful tho in there...totally addicting! Oh...and you're still sick, right? Maybe I'll have to rethink this 'go for a ride with Jill' idea next time I'm up there...you'll hurt me pretty bad I'm afraid! Glad to hear you are back in form tho...ride on, and keep the rubber side DOWN!MattChttp://inane-asylum2.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-31975512458181775282011-10-19T03:21:34.670-06:002011-10-19T03:21:34.670-06:00Jill, you exemplify the Nike motto, "Just Do ...Jill, you exemplify the Nike motto, "Just Do It", by overcoming the mental and physical battle. My friend John always tells me when I'm making excuses not to ride, "No season and no reason not to ride".
