It seems almost every cycling blog I look at has a link to this one and rightly so.

As a young(ish) bloke from the UK trying to get fit I feel very humbled reading Jill's exploits. I love your photos and admire your stamina and strength and the way you get out into the mountains any way that you can. You are very right - there is room for us all and who cares how we get out there as long as we are out there - hiking, biking, tele-skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, climbing - it's all good!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-60962710533937529862009-11-22T17:53:08.424-07:002009-11-22T17:53:08.424-07:00Anon ... Sure, I could learn, and intend to, but it will likely be years before I have the skills to access the Douglas Island Ridge. When I see a day like Friday, I'd rather go to the ridge now. It really doesn't matter to me how I get up or down. What I don't understand is, why does it matter to you? (Enough that you'd type in a comment criticizing me.)

Being from Utah actually turned me off to ski culture, because there was a lot of snobbery and "holier than thou" attitude that I can detect in your response. If I enjoy snowboarding, snowbiking, and snowshoeing, why not just keep doing what I love? The mountains are certainly big enough for all of us.Jill Homerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02983065990450931943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-89702793015006488322009-11-22T12:25:12.921-07:002009-11-22T12:25:12.921-07:00Simply gorgeous. Stewart, darting through shadow and light and trees, muscles aching and straining and rejoicing in the balance and skill needed to dance through the snow on their boards. I can understand their bewilderment - the skiing has been incredibly, unbelievably amazing for this time of year - or any time of year actually! Given your passion for mountains and snow, the natural progression is to learn to ski. It's kind of amazing that you've lived in Alaska for years as an outdoor enthusiast and haven't learned the easiest way to access the winter backcountry. And a Utah girl at that! Try it - you may amaze yourself. You can still take photos on skis, I promise.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-4216151210656101802009-11-22T07:23:41.808-07:002009-11-22T07:23:41.808-07:00Amazing pictures!
