You've accomplished something most of us will never do or have the opportunity to do. Relish it, savor it, and enjoy life to the fullest. Who knows what next year will bring. It's hard to cope after the loss of a future goal, even when it's been attained. Give yourself time...something new will come up. It may or may not involve the grind of training. I think it's interesting that people keep suggesting riding to Nome to you, even on the day you reported dragging into McGrath. I don't see it as a given. A couple of years ago a friend challenged me to a triathalon, knowing he could easily trounce a 235 lb father of two who had to wallk a bicycle up any significant hill. All was put into the effort and come race time I was 178 lbs, a Cervelo with carbon discs replaced my old Trek mountain bike and I could run a six something pace. After nearly drowning, I was able to beat my challanger by almost ten minutes. He never raced again. I had big plans to build on that performance but a strong motivational current was lost and I seemed adrift in the doldrums afterward. After a year or so of ennui the winds finally started to pick up secondary to group riding and the goal of becoming a top mountain goat. Give youself a little time and then set a new goal to focus your considerable energy lest it dissapate into the ether. I think I was the only person traveling to far northern Minnesota with a bike on their car:) Anyway, It appears I will be riding in the same conditions later today and tomorrow. There is a late season winter storm warning out for the area. Maybe Patti will be able to talk me into a long hike instead.

I very happy that both you and Geoff made it home safe.
Maybe my wifeVitohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01277306434031774094noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-56147623143340230852008-03-17T06:33:00.000-06:002008-03-17T06:33:00.000-06:00Holy Cow!!Nothing like a near death experience clo...Holy Cow!!
Nothing like a near death experience close to home to give you a new perspective and set of questions to ponder.AucillaSinkshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02085072007329506260noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-77320336285090952942008-03-17T05:47:00.000-06:002008-03-17T05:47:00.000-06:00i'm glad geoff's sixth sense was working!i'm glad geoff's sixth sense was working!bluecolnagohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09134285478201494323noreply@blogger.com
