I equate it to a certain extent with a local (rather than chain) business. Most of the reasons to buy local seem to translate well into buying self-published or indie published books rather than mass market. Not that mass market published books are bad but you have a better chance of supporting an author whose work you enjoy buying their self-published books.alligatorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01434832761806066033noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-40563533412575173042011-09-03T10:12:47.230-06:002011-09-03T10:12:47.230-06:00Hey sister, I still need to get a copy of "Be...Hey sister, I still need to get a copy of "Be Brave, Be Strong". From there, I started to read your blog and have ordered both of your books. I consider myself a runner, but thoroughly enjoyed "Be Brave, Be Strong" (just started Ghost Trails). I enjoy reading about the inward journey of the outward journey no matter the sport or activity. Keep up the great work!

Scott

http://www.flickr.com/photos/mclean/Scotthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11471608053737013045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-16712990542164314852011-09-01T14:15:21.023-06:002011-09-01T14:15:21.023-06:00I just got around to reading Ghost Trails and fini...I just got around to reading Ghost Trails and finished it in a day. It has improved a lot and I hope to resume fixie commuting at least, once I can shake this flu, that is.
Luckily for my quirky sense of adventure, the end of summer isn't the end of season, it's the end of the off-season. I am crazy excited about my upcoming prospects this winter, including Racing the Planet Nepal, joining Beat in his Iditarod training, winter bikepacking in Alaska, a possible re-match with the Susitna100 on foot and my favorite race of all time, the White Mountains 100 on my snow bike (that is, if I can get through the lottery.) Lots of good stuff coming up. I'm relieved that summer is finally over. ;-)Jill Homerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02983065990450931943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-1411166607870310752011-09-01T12:17:20.302-06:002011-09-01T12:17:20.302-06:00I hope you feel better soon. I've written a few fresh articles for magazines like AC, XXC and Cycling Utah, and a few more that are under contract but not slated for publication for many more months (such is weirdly glacial pace of magazine publishing.) I have been working on sending out a handful of magazine query letters as well, but the truth is magazine writing is not where my passion lies. I'm much more interested in books at this time.Jill Homerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02983065990450931943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-19623508255854535802011-09-01T10:58:49.777-06:002011-09-01T10:58:49.777-06:00Jill,
