I always thought cross was absurd and anti all things I like on biking (ride alone, long, slow pace) until I gave it a shot. It's not all redline effort, after all, who can go full out for 45 min? Mountain biking skills will be very useful on CX course!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03059137901941493531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-74758684501364762732013-09-27T04:22:51.058-06:002013-09-27T04:22:51.058-06:00+1 on the glasses, once you start....
You're ...+1 on the glasses, once you start....

You're on the verge of chronic fatigue, hence the light sensitivity.

Go easy, it's OK to have a little left in the tank. One longer ride ride weekly, the rest of the time shorter efforts w/ increasing intensity. But for now, it should be a mental escape.

You'll be pedaling around Europe in no time. z-manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09572343329703287829noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-39963262852847794482013-09-26T23:13:07.737-06:002013-09-26T23:13:07.737-06:00I know, and down deep you do too, that come Frog H...I know, and down deep you do too, that come Frog Hollow time, you will be pedaling the full 25 hours.Jerry Critterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01870618647449723147noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-57644386518357198532013-09-26T19:47:48.568-06:002013-09-26T19:47:48.568-06:00Somehow I seriously doubt you are out of shape. Don't plan a cruise or a hammer until you get there. Who cares, really, we all know you can do it. (Well, I know you care). The eye thing sounds scary.Maryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11166776565191771729noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-23713805419415792812013-09-26T17:22:39.735-06:002013-09-26T17:22:39.735-06:00I am so selfishly stoked that the bike is your foc...I am so selfishly stoked that the bike is your focus this year! I'm not farsighted. I have occasional difficulties focusing at any distance. One of the ways I described it to my optometrist is looking at a 3D illustration without 3D glasses — there's a slight blur of offset color surrounding everything. But this comes and goes, and seems to be connected to long periods of trying to maintain focus, like reading or driving. If the glasses only magnify text than I'm not even sure they'll help, but it's worth a try.

This is the first time I've visited an eye doctor. It was about time, but I my primary care physician gave me a vision test in May and rated it 20/20. I haven't had focusing issues like this before, ever, which leaves me further suspicious that there's a direct connection between my vision issues and my participation in PTL, and that it might not be easily solvable unless (until) it re-sets on its own.Jill Homerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02983065990450931943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-90300109487234105422013-09-26T14:49:34.208-06:002013-09-26T14:49:34.208-06:00Be careful of getting too attached to the reading ...Be careful of getting too attached to the reading glasses..you are still young...my take on them is that they are a slippery slope! I got my first set about 5 yrs ago (I have a 'few' years on you)...1x magnification for the first few years was the ticket...but I think they let your eyes get 'lazy' and then you REALLY need them after not too long...just this year I had to upgrade to 2x for my work (we have vision tests and I failed, even at 1x). But on the upside, my near-sightedness has gone away completly as my reading vision has deteriorated..strange stuff indeed (been near sighted since 3rd grade). Hopefully you re-find your cycling mojo and get to cracking on the mtb...love reading about your 24 hrs of Frog Hollow race every year!Matthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10517087265569164625noreply@blogger.com
