I also use clothes with lots of zippers and potential vents. I also do the famous "tie-the-coat-around-the-waist" trick. ;-)

I can't handle getting a little too warm, but I don't tolerate being too cold very well.

I will admit that I am a bit of a minimalist during races, however. Overdressing is a prob...It's a hard balance to hit. Overdressing is a problem as well because of all the sweat you generate.

No two conditions are ever the same either, because there are so many factors besides temperature to factor in - windchill, effort level and techincal conditions, time outside, sunny or overcast, precipitation, etc.

So the reality is, I'm learning every day and probably will continue to do so, making tons of mistakes along the way, if I ride a bicycle in the winter for the rest of my life. That's basically why I like it so much. It's always a challenge.Jill Homerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02983065990450931943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-82918509815486237172009-01-03T12:40:00.000-07:002009-01-03T12:40:00.000-07:00From reading your blog, seems like you've under dr...From reading your blog, seems like you've under dressed yourself for the cold couple of times before as well. Just like a kitty.

Porcupines are really hardy animals. They live throughout Alaska, even up in the Brooks Range where temps can drop to 60 or 70 below zero. And they don't hibernate, unlike grizzly bears. Grizzly bears are wimps. :-)

Karen - going outside is key. All it takes is bundling up; with the right clothing, you can be comfortable and active in almost any weather. The key and the sometimes problem is figuring out exactly what that is.Jill Homerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02983065990450931943noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18615538.post-922802142503279742009-01-03T11:17:00.000-07:002009-01-03T11:17:00.000-07:00I am sick of being indoors - but I guess you are r...I am sick of being indoors - but I guess you are right - these negative temps are the reality right now.
